Morbius: Open & End Title Sequences

It's Morbin time.

Echolocation: A physiological process for locating distant or invisible objects (such as prey) by sound waves reflected back to the emitter (such as a bat) from the objects.

We were given the opportunity to translate an invisible medium into a tangible expression. With a blank slate, we leaned heavily on traditional graphic design principals to find a simple yet stylish aesthetic to tell this story. The opening titles depict echolocation from a great distance with slow moving geometric ripples that eventually form our Morbius “M.”

For the end sequence we’re enveloped within the echolocation. It’s as if the viewer is directly in the line of fire, with escalating pulses of echolocation rushing through the audience. Ultimately we finish where we started, with our Morbius “M.”
